Today there are so many vastly technical and hugely cluttered and complicated web sites, a beginner may feel a little overwhelmed when it comes to building their own site. I know I do, and I sometimes still feel that I am falling behind all the new web tech stuff going on.
Most people I meet will shy away from the idea of building a web site because they lack confidence in their ability to create it and maintain it; or they believe that it would be hugely expensive to hire someone to build and maintain one for them. (And it sometimes is.)
But if you truly have the desire to do your own website and if you have two weeks to spend, I strongly suggest that you learn HTML. Even if you are using templates, front page, DreamWeaver or some other website builder. You should have a basic understanding of html and at the very least, you should know how to build the very basic web page. If you do, you will increase your web site building confidence.
